If there is a category of people photography called performance portraiture then that is what I like to do. And, within that, at present it is mainly music and, more recently, some dance. I can't play a note myself and I certainly can't dance, so instead I listen and I watch. These galleries record what I see.
I try to capture moments that mean something to my clients: their moments, seen by me but belonging to them. I often give them back in monochrome. That seems to work for images that people want to keep. But, just lately, much of my music work has been done in colour - so I hope there is something here for everyone.
My work often involves the creation of a reportage journal depicting a subject's passion: for music, for dance, for drama, for sport or for (pretty much) whatever else they like to do. But, sometimes, it is just people – simply on their own and at ease - that result in portraits that endure. I have made a quick tour gallery to show a cross section of my work and have tried to explain some of the ideas behind the pictures.
This site is best viewed at 1280 x 1024 pixels. If it looks like a picture is missing from a caption, try turning your security settings down while I try to work out why that happens sometimes.

Portfolios of pictures which contain images of children appear in the print sales section of the site and some galleries are password protected, although there are a few samples in the main galleries. If your child is included in an event and you would like access to the gallery for the event, please contact me.
