I had a call from the firm who printed a book I'd put together (www.yophoto.com) to say it had been nominated for two awards sponsored by Print Week magazine. That was exciting for a week or two while we waited to see if we'd won.
Inspiration for the book came from a photographic essay I’d undertaken capturing life at the school, which I wanted to use as the basis of a leaving gift for the headteacher who was taking up a new appointment.
My co-author, Leafy Dumas, an artist friend, liked the idea of combining two ways of seeing school life in a single book and so joined in. Between us we came up with a book of her drawings and watercolours and my photographs.
Meanwhile, there are few pages from the book in my design gallery. We hope to make an expanded version of the book available for purchase by parents during the autumn.

Not cheesy grin, sit up nicely school photography - more this is who we are and this what we do kind of photography. Fun, and illuminating.
Like my school photography but, well, not in school. All the other things children get invloved in - drama clubs, music groups and workshops. And still, no cheesy grin groups with everyone sitting nicely.
